Steve E. Ekes
Physical Therapist

Special Credentials: Steve has obtained a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. He has also completed course work in Manual Therapy and is working on DPT and Manual Therapy Certification.

Education: University of St Augustine

Hobbies: In his spare time, Steve enjoys going surfing, being outdoors, fishing and spending time with friends and family.

What I like MOST about working at Performance Physical Therapy:
I like to give all I can to each and every patient. I like to treat them like family and watch them progress so they can achieve their goals!

Jennie Baumberger
Physical Therapist

Jennie works with patients to restore and enhance their physical mobility after an injury or an illness. Her patients appreciate her ability to problem solve and develop treatment plans to meet each patients unique needs. Patients also enjoy her enthusiasm & encouragement along their road to recovery.

 Credentials: Jennie began her career working in a Sports/Orthopedic Clinic, treating elite and professional athletes in New York City before moving to Sarasota.

 Education: Jennie earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

• Hobbies: Basketball, flag football, painting, and community theater.

• What I like MOST about working at Performance Physical Therapy: I love the people I work with. Everyone is so willing to help one another each and every day.  I love watching patients achieve their goals!

Damaris Bowers
Office Manager
Credentials: Damaris is the only child out of nine children to go to college. She has an exceptional customer service skills and over ten years of experience in the medical field.

Education: Lehigh Carbon Community College

Hobbies: listening to music, nature walking, spending time with my children, reading, cooking, watching movies with my husband.

What I like MOST about working at Performance Physical Therapy:
I enjoy assisting and giving needed information to patients that help in their recovery.

Rebecca Strain
Credentials: Rebecca served as a Director of Rehab in Skilled Nursing Facility in Arkssansas, training in Aquatic Therapy & Hippotherapy with children & horses, & Associates Degree in Applied Science Physical Therapy.

Education: University of Findlay, Findlay, OH & James A Rhodes State College, Lima, OH

Hobbies: Enjoy spending time with my new family, scrap booking & card making, watching the sunset at the beach & dog obedience training.

What I like MOST about working at Performance Physical Therapy:
I enjoy spending the one on one time with my patients & getting to know them and learn about their life & developing a program specific to their needs to achieve their individual goals for a quicker recovery period.

Thomas Washburn
Exercise Specialist
Tom has always had an interested in sports medicine and rehab. He brings into his work his caring and compassionate nature. What he likes most in caring for patients is seeing their progress and improvement and knowing you helped them achieve their goals and enhance their life.

 Credentials: Employed by Sarasota Memorial Hospital Rehabilitative Services for 7 years before joining the Performance Physical Therapy team.

• Hobbies: Travel, basketball, baseball, football, beach volley ball, and going to sports events.

Cheryl Kaiser
Exercise Instructor

Cheryl enjoys encouraging people to take steps toward experiencing well being their vitality.

 Education and Credentials:  Cheryl has certifications and experience in Yoga Therapy, Ageless Grace (21 tools for aging gracefully and maintaining neuroplasticity), Somatic Therapy and other healing modalities. She is also a certified Focusing Trainer and often utilizes this process in her stress reduction classes. She has provided classes at wellness facilities, hospitals, doctors offices and area studios for over 10 years.

• Hobbies and Pursuits:  Continuing education and trainings in health and healing. She is also an avid cook and provides healthy cooking classes. Volunteering marketing services with non-profit organizations in the community. Playing Frisbee with my adorable dog, hugging my family and taking Nature walks.

• What I like MOST about working at Performance Physical Therapy: The opportunity to bring a smile to faces. I find Steve Ekes his wife Tammy and the staff to be warm, cheerful and caring.
